Sports injuries require thorough assessment to determine the true cause of the injury, its severity and contributing factors. Common contributing factors can include lack of strength, poor load management or poor technique. Rehabilitation for sports injuries includes the acute management of the injury as well as a focus on preventing a recurrence of the injury. At Ryan Harris Physiotherapy we understand that not only each is each sport different, but each position also has its own requirements. We develop a rehabilitation program that takes into account these specific requirements and aim to get you back to sport at a higher performance level than when you became injured.
Most of the time when athletes hit the gym, they follow a generic program that they found on the internet or got off a friend. At Ryan Harris Physio, we can help build a specific program tailored to your individual needs and sporting requirements. These programs can have as much or as little equipment as you desire. We are also experienced in providing advice or individualised running programs to help you start running, return to running, run your first fun run or marathon, or to simply improve your running.

Many injuries start to give warning signals before the injury actually occurs; muscle tightness can be a great example of this. Here at Ryan Harris Physio, we know that it is better to be proactive in preventing injuries instead of reacting when they occur. We gain an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, previous injury history and how you play your sport in order to reduce your risk of injury and keep you in the game.

Sport-specific screenings are available to help identify areas that need improvement and can help to track your progress as you continue with your sport. In the unfortunate instance you do get injured, it also allows us to have a baseline set of data so we can make sure that when you return to sport, you’re back better than ever.

Returning to sport is the goal of many athletes. This process starts by gradually returning to training before progressing back into games. However, returning to sport is just one piece of the puzzle. The goal shouldn’t be just returning to sport, it should be to get back to performing your best. Here at Ryan Harris Physio, we help you along every step of your returning to performance journey, starting right after your acute injury and guiding you all the way back to your best performance.

Knee pain is a common complaint which can be caused by a sudden injury, an overuse pattern, or by an underlying condition, such as arthritis. Symptoms of a knee injury can include pain, swelling and pain in and around the knee cap while walking or climbing stairs.

Treatment for your knee pain will vary depending on the cause, which is why Ryan Harris Physiotherapy will start to treat your knee with a comprehensive assessment to work out the true cause of your pain and develop a rehabilitation program specific to your knee and your rehab goals.

Foot and ankle pain is common and often a result of soft tissue injuries. These injuries can occur traumatically or as an overuse injury. Symptoms of foot and ankle pain can include pain and swelling, either whilst walking or while completing sport or exercise.

Your foot and ankle pain treatment will depend on the cause and type of injury. Ryan Harris Physiotherapy will start with a comprehensive assessment of your injury to work out the true cause of your pain and its contributing factors. From there, a specific rehabilitation program for your foot and ankle pain will be developed and may consist of load management, strengthening and manual therapy.

Back Pain or lower back pain is one of the most common reasons for people presenting to physiotherapy clinics. Fortunately, the majority of back pain can resolve quickly with physio. Here at Ryan Harris Physio you will receive a comprehensive assessment to identify the true cause of your back pain and we will develop a specific rehabilitation program to get you back moving again, pain free.
Runners do not always need to stop running when injured. Depending on the cause and type of injury you may be able to continue running whilst completing your rehabilitation. Running injuries can range from acute injuries, such as muscle strains, to overuse injuries, such as tendinopathies. At Ryan Harris Physio, we aim to keep you running while your rehabilitation takes place and will address the true cause of your injury to give you the complete solution.
